1 Hopkins, Alphonso Alva The Life of Clinton Bowen Fisk
Bound in bluish-green cloth with white titles to front cover and spine. Formerly owned by the Genesee Wesleyan Seminary, with ownership identification on spine and front pastedown. Binding is tight, pages are clean and unmarked. . Biography of Clinton Fisk. This is the "Revised Edition." Fisk was the founder of Fisk University, and he endowed the university with $30,000. He was a strong abolitionist and helped establish the first free public schools in the South for white and black children. He was also a strong supporter of Prohibition, and ran for President as the candidate of the Abolitionist Party in 1888. This book, his biography, was presented to the seminary library by the Prohibition Party of Livingston County in 1912, as stated by an inscription on the first endpaper. A solid copy of an early printing. Laid in is a publisher's brochure advertising the book. It is in Fine condition. . 8vo - 8" to 9" tall. 335 pages.
