Ex-library book with the usual defects except that spine label has been removed. Blue cloth covers are rubbed and worn at extremities, especially head of spine. Dampstain at top two inches of back cover; does not affect inside of book. Binding is tight, pages are white and clean. . Short biographies of man and women important in Indiana history and development, in all fields, as viewed in 1917. Many of the names are familiar to us today -- the Studebaker brothers, Eli Lilly, David Maxwell, Caleb Mills, Abraham Lincoln, Logan Esarey, David Starr Jordan, James Whitcomb Riley, and Booth Tarkington. Others will be new to the reader. The bios are grouped into ten categories -- industry, education and religion, statesmanship, etc. -- and each section is preceded by an introductory and unifying essay. There are many cross references between and among the various pieces, and the index is extensive. An unusual and somewhat scarce addition to books about Indiana history and culture. Privately published. . Ex-Library. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. 327 pages. Indiana History. Biographies
