Original full leather covers with backstrip that has lost much of its top layer of leather; no spine label and two vertical cracks to backstrip, which is still firmly attached. Joints are cracked but binding is tight and firm. Leather covers are rubbed, worn at extremities, flaking. Pages are moderately to heavily foxed but text is readable throughout, all pages present. A few pages have tears or a missing or creased corner. . Book is a very early listing of approximately 120 cases tried from 1811 to 1814 in the new state of Tennessee, which achieved statehood in 1796, just 22 years before the publication of this book. Cases are arranged chronologically. For each case, the plaintiffs and defendents are identified, the case is described in some detail, and the verdict provided, citing the pertinent points of law. Most of the case involve land disputes, and many involved property in or near Nashville. Some of the other cases discussed involve court jurisdiction, equity, contracts, debts, admissable evidence, fraud, perjury, the status of the child of a slave woman, gambling, and probable cause. The book includes an index and the final page is a list of errata. The book was previously owned by a Wm. B.
