Caidin, Martin and Hank Curth "What Are We Going to Tell Them?" the Inside Story of NASA Laminated paper covers in plastic comb binding, pages are printed on coated paper. Modest corner bump, slight soil to covers. Pages are clean, binding tight. . This unusual and uncommon book was created by the author and photographer and was self-published. The title refers to the relationship between reporters and NASA spokesmen. It consists of ten full-page b/w glossy photos with blank facing pages. Each photo is accompanied by a humorous caption, most of which would be especially meaningful and funny to NASA "insiders" -- NASA folks and members of the press corps. An example of one of the photos is a shot of 6 or 8 hot, sweaty, short-sleeved and tired-looking reporters crowded in front of a table facing an equally unhappy man who must be a NASA spokesman. The caption reads: "Bill, would you mind snarling that again?" Martin Caidin is well known for his writing about aviation, aeronautics and space, both fiction and non-fiction. Hank Curth is a photographer, part of the Press Corps at NASA, and all but two of the photos in the book were taken by him. Caidin must also have been at Cape Canaveral at this time as well, perhaps doing research for his book Marooned, about American astronauts marooned in space, which was published only two years later. The book is SIGNED AND INSCRIBED: "To ***, a gal who was of tremendous help. With Thanks, Hank Curth." The cover states that the book is "A Limited MA-6 Edition, No. 346." The back cover identifies the work as "printed for the benefit of the Society of Used Astronauts," and notes that "this contract was not approved by Congress." Unique. .
